THE WORK BEHIND THE PURPOSE

Help that meets people where they are.

Hope4 combines immediate humanitarian relief with work that helps communities build a more secure future. Food, clothing and practical supplies meet pressing needs; opportunities to learn, play and connect help people move forward.

Stories from the ground

MOLDOVA · MAY 2026

Ordinary essentials. A meaningful difference.

A warm coat, a school jumper or a pair of shoes can make daily life easier for a family facing hardship. In May 2026, Goods For Good visited Moldova with Hope4 Moldova and JDC to see donated goods reaching communities first-hand.

The visit included Ukrainian refugees, older people living alone, families in rural poverty and children in institutional care. At an after-school club, children received personalised bags of clothing, alongside summer essentials and water bottles.

The team also launched a delivery vehicle sponsored by UNIQLO, helping local partners reach remote communities near the Ukrainian border. The story shows the practical chain behind relief: businesses donating useful stock, partners organising deliveries and local teams understanding what people need.

MOLDOVA · OCTOBER 2024

Warmth before winter arrives.

From 14–17 October 2024, a UNIQLO team joined Goods For Good and Hope4 in Moldova to help distribute donated clothing. The visit brought pre-loved garments and thermal layers to people facing a difficult winter.

Volunteers sorted clothing at the Hope4 warehouse and visited refugee centres and children’s care settings. UNIQLO’s report describes more than 1,000 people receiving support at the warehouse in a single day, as well as deliveries to families in rural communities.

Children also took part in origami activities during the visit. Alongside the practical value of warm clothing, there was time to connect, learn and spend a day together.

MOLDOVA & UKRAINE · MAY 2023 REPORT

Food support across borders.

When people are displaced by conflict, dependable food and drinking water become urgent needs. Hope4 worked with Bidfood to get supplies to Ukrainian refugees, families facing poverty in Moldova and people remaining in conflict-affected parts of Ukraine.

In its report dated 18 May 2023, Bidfood recorded seven support loads, approximately £400,000 in donated goods and around 73,000 meals. These are historical figures from that report, rather than current totals.

The deliveries included cupboard staples and bottled water for local distribution.

THE WIDER MISSION

Dignity comes first.

Hope4’s work responds to poverty, displacement, trafficking risks and crises. Immediate relief can mean food, clean water, medical support or somewhere safe to stay. Longer-term work focuses on helping communities build stability and opportunity.

That purpose is personal. Behind a delivery or a project are people with different needs, experiences and hopes for the future. Working with communities and local partners helps make support relevant to the people receiving it.

The photograph here, shared on Hope4’s own website, captures that human connection: Zoe embracing a child during the charity’s work.

SOUTH AFRICA · MANDELA DAY

A meal, a conversation, a moment of care.

Hope4 Africa’s Mandela Day soup kitchen brought almost 300 children together for a warm meal, bread and juice. The team’s update describes more than the food served: there were conversations, laughter, smiles and hugs.

Meeting an immediate need can also create space for children to feel welcomed and valued. Taking time to listen and be present was part of the day, alongside preparing and sharing the meal.

It is a practical example of community support in South Africa, made possible by the people who turned up and the supporters behind them. The original Hope4 Africa update shares the moment in the team’s own words.

MOLDOVA · SPORT AGAINST POVERTY

New boots. More chances to play.

A worn-out pair of football boots can become a barrier to training and playing. Hope4’s BOOTS SWAP initiative gives children a way to exchange their old boots for a new pair in the same size.

Launched through Sport Against Poverty with support from Goods For Good, the initiative focuses on children in rural communities and smaller towns where access to suitable sports equipment can be difficult.

The idea is straightforward: help young players get the equipment they need so they can keep taking part. Hope4 and its Moldova team publicly welcomed the launch, highlighting the opportunities it creates for children to continue playing and developing.

MOLDOVA · OCTOBER FACEBOOK UPDATE

Making room for young people to give back.

At Hope4’s Moldova warehouse, young men aged 16–20 from a local transit home volunteered to assemble toys for orphanages and day-care centres. Hope4 shared their visit on Facebook on 9 October.

The toys arrived through the charity’s partnership with Goods For Good and needed assembling before they could reach the children. With the volunteers’ help, more of those toys were prepared for their next home.

The day also brought conversation, laughter and pizza as a thank-you. It was an opportunity for the young volunteers to meet people, contribute their time and take an active role in supporting other children.

TURKEY & SYRIA · 2023 RESPONSE

Practical help after the earthquakes.

In the same May 2023 report, Bidfood documented its work with Hope4 following the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. Support included food parcels, sleeping bags, blankets and insulated clothing for people who had lost their homes.

This archive update shows another part of Hope4’s humanitarian response: working with partners to provide useful supplies when an emergency disrupts everyday life.
